Side, Antalya Turkey
Side, easily accessible by a day trip from Antalya, was once idyllic, a traditional Turkish village famous for marble Roman ruins on 2 km of unspoiled beach just an hour (65 km) east of Antalya or west of Alanya. The young, the lively and those who like to party take over the town in high season. The resort hotels further along the beach have some good family facilities. Out of season, older couples and worthy Germany hikers arrive.
Both Turks and foreigners prefer Side for the amazing white sand beaches, the seaside bars and restaurants, the variety of accommodation - from cheap little pensions to luxury hotels, and the impressive Roman and Hellenistic ruins.
The best time to have a vacation or a day trip to Side are late April, May, early June and October. If you must come in high summer, there would be crowd everywhere.
You can use your own car or take a bus or minibus to get here. Buses and minibuses depart from Antalya and Alanya. About 3 km far from Side, in Manavgat there is nice cascade (they call it waterfall but let you know that it is only 2 m high!).
